Hello, I have recently bought a nice Tokai Hardpuncher.

Could you please give me any more info about this bass?
According to the seller and the logo it could be 1981..
What does the pickup cavity and neck code mean?
Was this finish standard or was it a special order at that time?

The more info the better, of course.. :)

It is an amazing bass! It is on par with any 70's Fender P I have played.

Thank you!

Try doing a search for earlier posts on the meaning of the codes. There are a few theories about them, but it's not common for them to match up - only one of the Goldstars I have seen has matching codes. LB is the colour code = Lake Placid Blue. I'm not sure anyone has quite worked out what the X means, though I'm sure there are a few theories.

Tokais are full of mysteries.

Nice bass. Anything with a matching headstock tends to sell for a bit more, due to the rarity.

Hi nice bass i have a hard puncher that is all black, back of the neck and front and back of the headstock the hardware is all gold, seems to be a 1984. Although not my color of choice for any guitar this baby is beautiful and in near mint condition. Id like to post some pics HOW do you do it?? Thanks Wayne

First you need to load your pics onto a hosting site such as www.photobucket.com - which is free to join.

Then you can either just give us the link to the page the pics are on:

OR, you can give a link to each individual pic:

OR, to have the pics appear on the page, use the IMG button, right click the link, click the Img button again, & the pic appears in the post.

Then use the Preview button to make sure it's all worked.

It's easier than it sounds! Good luck.
