Strings Direct have a nice looking blonde 2003 Tokai ES-120 in stock at the mo for ?779 (not a bad UK price) including a case.

Just like this one - but with a case!!. Great guitar:

I think I'm happier with the ES130 I bought from Donkey Oaty at the weekend.

:p

All I need to do now is work out how to get a decent sound out of it - I've never owned a 335 before, & it's very different to a Strat or Tele.

Who's the bloke in the shorts, Marcus? It looks like UK TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

That's Hash Brown (aka Brian Calway):

I see Hash Brown doesn't go for the sharp-suited look I associate with Texans!

Yeah, spending again. It's hard to justify buying the ES, but it was just such a stunning looking guitar, & I needed something with humbuckers for a change.

For what it's worth, Hash has lots of vintage guitars - he hasn't put that Tokai down since he got it. He said it is one of the best playing and sounding guitars he's ever owned.

Is that what I have? An ES130, now ES145?

Stupid system of model numbering.......

Yup, spot on. I can't remember when the 110/120 became the 120/130 but I think it was in 2003 (someone correct me please if i'm wrong!). So you've likely got the 2nd or 3rd model in the range (excluding the fancy pants block neck/pearl binding ones) but that's by no means a bad thing!

Edit: I'll check the catalogues and see...

Edit 2: no dice. The ES models are even messier than the love rock history, and not even the registry can shed light on the matter. Anyone have any 2002/03/04 catalogues?

Here's a 2005 ES-100 & a 2005 ES-120 so, had not changed by April 2005, as these were February & April manufacture.
Funny thing is, the ES-100 ate the ES-120 for lunch; no kidding :) ..............
