I've read in a couple of places (and, yes, I know you shouldn't believe everything you read...) that the Edwards SGs can suffer from 'neck wobble'. I'm vaguely considering acquiring one of these (not a neck wobble, I hope) so I wondered if any of you who have had experience of SGs and more particularly those of the Edwards variety could clarify if this is an issue I should concerned about...

Thanks!

SG's are notoriously weak at the neck joint, simply because there is very little wood to support the neck. All the Edwards guitars I've seen have been very well made, I haven't actually seen an Edwards SG, but I would imagine they are no worse than any other brand. Buy a decent case to transport it, and don't drop it, you'll be fine :D

You'll also grow hair on your palms if you......

I've got an Edwards Fool SG and there is no neck wobble. Like JohnA says though, SGs of any make have a notoriously weak neck joint, so try before you buy I would say wherever possible.

By the way, has anyone else noticed the new SG model Edwards are doing with a vibrato tailpiece? Looks sweet:

So many guitars, so little money...sigh...

Uh oh..... I'm feeling gassy.

If its any consolation i remember a review of a Tokai SG that said. "They are so accurate as to even have the notorious neck wobble associated with these guitars"

In fact, had you ever seen Zappa or checked out his vids you will see him, from time to time, grab the head stock of his SG and it sounds like a mild whammy effect. One thing i noticed seeing Zappa live with an SG was. He spent almost as much time tuning the guitar as he did playing it.

I have a CMI Les Paul double cut, in effect the fore runner of the SG. Same neck design. On sustain chords and notes, I must admit, i have found *clouting* the back of the headstock gently, gives a lovely extra *boing* to the note.

Resurrecting an old thread, sorry...

I've just been putzing around with my Edwards SG putting some Seymour Duncans in, and thought I'd post a shot of the neck joint:

Pretty solid looking for an SG.
