I recently acquired this Burny Goldtop guitar from Japan for a very good deal. Upon it's arrival I have what I believe to be a Tokai made Burny from 1978.

Here is what I have found to date:
1) inked and stamped serial number 8000213
2) two piece top and 2 piece back
3) does not appear to have fret edge binding
4) Just Burny on headstock and no "les paul"
5) Bell truss rod cover
6) Long tenon neck joint? (see pictures)
7) unmarked pickups
8) Electronics are marked with "LS" like Tokai
9) Tuners have been swapped to grovers (original holes can be seen and likely were Kluson style)
10) very heavy guitar

This guitar has a number of remarkable similarities to an LS60 Les Paul Reborn that I own with an inked serial number also starting 800XXXX

I would love to hear the expert opinions on this guitar and it's origins. She is a real beauty and sounds awesome through an early 70's fender twin. Pics coming right away

Thanks

Thanks again in advance for any and all assistance

It's a late 70s Burny made by Tokai.
Have a look at the 2 holes on both sides of the bottom of the pickup cavity.
Notice how they are squarish in shape. Tokai routes the pickup cavities like this a lot. Fujigen and Terada made guitars for instance don't have squarish holes at the bottom of the pickup cavities.

This is a 2004 Burny made by Tokai. Notice the square holes at the bottom of the pickup cavity.

This is a late 80s no serial Greco made by Tokai. Notice the square holes at the bottom of the pickup cavity.

Also all of the above guitars have similar Tokai control routing features and Tokai style diagonal wiring channels from the pickup selector switch cavity to the control cavity..

Thanks guys....

Looks like my initial assumption was right. Tokai made Burny Goldtop probably from 1978

Any other thoughts out there???
