I played one very similar to that a few months ago in a music store here in Toronto. It looks like a Gretsch but the pickups are humbucking so it sounds more like a Les Paul. Other than the way it looks I wasn't really too impressed with it.

Hey Kenmac I live right near Toronto, which music store did you visit ????
I used to go to songbird but they went under do you know any other good used git shops around T.O. ?

Hey I sent a e-mail to the guy selling this guitar on e-bay and he was surprised that I thought it was fake. He says its From Korea and its a model nes-90 to , Anyway what exactly makes this a fake ??? it would be good to know for future puchases .

Here are a couple threads where this model has been seen and discussed before. I don't know the whole story behind your model guitar.

This is a "fake" this headstock logo also appears on this one from another thread, http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=74132#74132 . I had discussions with a shop in Canada and even he believed these were original Tokai's because he bought them from the Canadian Tokai distributor. Read the thread in the link and you will find out the rest.
