Missed out on Wayneboys MIJ AST this afternoon, so next on my list is this

Be careful,the lowest spec AST28 have plywood bodys.
Here is a geniue from the mid '80.The specs on this puppies are the same as on the ST 60 Goldstars,2 piece center seemed alder body etc.

These are very good Strats,the only issue is that pointy headstock.

That one looks identical to my surf green 2002 AST-50:



The cheaper korean maple neck models did not have the walnut plug for the trussrod on the headstock since they have glued on fingerboards. The japan made AST-50 had a one piece maple neck.

I really recommend the AST-50, it's a great guitar, only the switch is inferior and does not cost a lot to replace. There's no "made in japan" sticker or stamp nor a serial number on mine. Tokai started with serial numbers/made in japan stamp again a year or so later.
