thinking of a black custom Les Paul type with the 4 small diamonds that form one large diamond on the headstock, saw pics from the catalogs here but not stated where they were made. Saw one locally for a great price but not sure if it`s MIK or not...has a 2 screw truss rod cover. Gold hardware is worn, guitar looks older.
So...no serial always means MIK?

The UK relics have no serial numbers and they're created from Japanese Love Rocks.

I don't know about other models.

The japanese Goldstars and Breezys did not have serial numbers for a couple of years. My 2002 AST-50 doesn't have one.

thanks...so I guess I`d have to look at the cavities to see if there are any markings and maybe under the p`ups to see whats what. Guess I`ll have a look next week when I go back to that town to teach.

The back of the headstock will have "Made in Japan" on it if it's a recent model.

"Made in Japan" stamped with black ink on the back of headstock means a Tokai after 2004 made(2005 and after)......

what about this one? planning to get it one day but kinda skeptical

It's made in Korea. The bridge is different and the white covers on the back and no serial on then back of headstock are a certain giveaway. The truss rod cover makes it look like a vintage MIJ. If you like it, it might be ok, just don't pay the price of vintage MIJ Tokai.

hi, when you re-string or having the guitar srviced ..if you really want the mither ofcourse, .. you can try undoing the neck to body bolts and i am aware that some of the serial numbers especially on breezys were SOMETIMES... allegedly...hidden in that joint??? others may confirm this also??

If you compare the two pictures of the head, the front picture seems to be "without dimple" lp style and the back picture "with dimple". My eyes also might lie ; - )
