... except for the 1981 Tokai LP Custom I found in Australia that also has a bound headstock but no inlay I would have agreed with you.

Well, actually the pics are crap. So, it's difficult to judge. But if you check out

this actually could be a LC60 CS. I've also seen inked serials on a number of 1981s.

Starting with ? 999.-- is a bit steep; I've seen LS60 Reborn Olds going for around 900.-- recently.

...yes, might be but look at the neck heel :-? , this is no Tokai feature , but very common for Ibanez Les pauls :wink:

C'mon guys

It's a fake.

All LC series had headstock inlays - 1981 was 'hearts & flowers'
Cream plastics instead of black
Serial number is inked [ or appears that way ]
Neck heel is wrong
Tokai logo in heasdstock is not set in correct position [too far "north"]
Back of headstock has a f@#*ing volute - NO Tokai ever had one !

I am sure i have missed something else . . . will check my info when i get home and re-post tomorrow
