Hi my son wants a Les Paul copy and I am looking at an old EG - maybe 360 with bolt on neck and no serial number.

Some pics available at http://www.peachhomeloans.com.au/products/greco1.jpg

Neck plate has Made in Japan stamped and the headstock has Greco but no other inlay with bell shaped truss rod cover.

If you can give any idea of the model, age and what it's worth in fair average condition ...hope I am not asking too much

Hi keychange welcome to the forum, just a couple of questions mate, where abouts in Aus are you and how much are you thinking of paying for a guitar for your son. I think you could probably do better than a bolt on greco, as they say "a tradesman is only as good as his tools.. :p

Cheers Mick

looks like a lower mid 1970's model,I'd say only around 200 USD

Update - I am near Bellingen northern NSW Australia

Now looking at what appears to be an EGC - 82 model (I think) - white. But!!!!The headstock logo is split diamond with what looks like a flattened Z in the middle. I have never seen this on a Greco anywhere. Gold made in japan machines.

The serial number on headstock is 2 0 585 with that spacing.

Faded gold PU's and bridge etc - Bolt on neck. - Any comments good or bad

Thanks

Hi Andrew, mate i'm not sure how much this guitar is but i personally wouldn't touch any LP with a bolt on neck. There are plenty of well priced early 80's grecos around , so i would be looking for one of them.

Mick

Thanks Mick -

I have watched eBay for months and I haven't seen a set neck Greco offered. The bolt ons go for around $500 - this one is $395 current bid. An Ibanez 77 LP bolt on went for $550 yesterday.

BTW- Have you seen the fake brand new LP Supreme's being offered - they look like the real thing complete with Gibson Supreme headstock inlays. My son nearly fell for one yesterday at $800 - new genuine Supreme $3500 +

Anyway back to the subject - I believe there is no point asking advice if you're not prepared to take it - so I will wait for a set neck to pop up.

Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew, there are quite a few cheap, usually chinese knock offs around , check these out, i'm thinking of getting a couple to hang on the wall ... :p

There's a few there now, have a look and feel free to ask some more questions. :D

Cheers Mick

Freight from OS is a bit of a bugger. I brought in acoustic Kawai from Japan a few weeks ago at $85 - although it was delivered in 4 days - which considering where I live is faster than I can usually do from Sydney.

What do you think of 1990 John Sykes Les Paul Custom MIJ @ $550 in OZ -- how do these compare with the 80s models.

Andrew

Mick

I just realised the guitar isn't in OZ - he brings them over from Japan - so it's plus freight , I might as well continue trying to source my own and cut out the middle man.

I have my own collection of acoustics and have a pretty good knowledge of these to the level of doing my own bridge, neck and fret work but electrics are another matter. Thanks for your help so far.

Andrew
