yes there are 2 and 3 piece 850's..but most, if not all 1200's are 2 piece...

So the main difference between an 850 & 1200 is the pickups? Those DRY-Z's you have are loooking more tempting by the minute

Are they really THAT good?

there are other differences ie the necks on 1200 are usually the fattest

well DRY-Z are my fav PU I think they are very good...

I have some tom holmes and I also use peter Florance...close but not as good ..

I have dry 1982's in one guitar and Peter Florence Voodoos in another and I have to say that I really prefer the Dry 1982's over the Voodoos. Never heard the Z's. I bet a big part of the sound of the EGF 1200 is those Dry-Z's.

Well..a fat neck it has!

Does somebody know where to find i pikture of a egf-850 sticker.
I believe the size differs from the egf-1200..?

Here is info for an EGF1200 showing the sticker etc......

Yes, I have seen several different stickers for the 1200 but none for the egf850 so that is what I'm looking for.

Nice!
Those are exactly the same size i think.
But later, or at the same time, they used stickers with only the numbers on them. Those are the ones i think might differ in size. I have some glue residue on my late (1982) Super real and may be able to tell which one was there. I've seen stickers with only 1200 on them but none with only 850. I've seen 500 though.
BTW I've seen several, as I remeber, EG58-120 with the 1200 stickers on them. Is This correct or is there a EG58-120 sticker?
Thanks Mick!

Thanks mate,

You are right about the EG58-120 sticker displaying a 1200

This has all the info......

58-120 and EGF-1200 essentially the same guitar...some minor differences , in PU and tenon construction method, some very late superreal EGF-1200 were sent out from the factory tagged as 58-120's

so there would be a super real EGF=1200 with a 58-120 tag on it...

Hey DNS, try this mate...

Using this link here to the Japan excite URL translator to English

http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/

You will see the url box, just copy paste the url you want to translate, then, underneath the url box you will see two circled button options, just select the right hand circle, then click the orange highlighted box to the right, and bingo.........

Mick

Hi Mick, you can also install the japanese language packs in windows service pack 2 and then all i do is right click on the page and select"translate from japanese to english.

Cheers Mick

The service pack did it! Thanks Leadguitar!
A new question for the knowables:
When did the surface under the pickups go flat on the grecos?
The EG58-120 with 1200 sticker earlier in this thread is number 2 3367 and has flat surface. Mine nr 2 003x is not flat.

1800 and 2500, CHSB, TBB, VSB
only honeyburst for 1200,
1000 CHSB and very rarely TBB
850 CHSB and honeyburst.

the bindings not tinted its just old and dirty heh..

I'm talking about the ones with tinted laquer making the binding look yellowish. The earlier EGF didn't have that, they where honeyburst with whiter binding(clear laquer). I havent yet seen an EGF 850 with this feature (tinted that is).

all binding on 850 1000 and 1200 is the same..

Which Mint Collection models has the rolled off binding ?

Did the flat surface around the pickups start with the Mint series or does it depend on model level?

This is mine with the tinted laquer over the binding. And rounded carving on the top.

So only the Super Reals had the correct carved top. Not the Mint Collection.
The alu stoptail was only on the egf1200. Not on the lower number models..
And the tinted laquer was only on the EGF 1200 Super Real. On many Mint Collection though..

That makes mine a 1200! 8)
