I'm using a Rivera M60 1x12 for gigs and a Fender Blues Junior with a Jenson P12 for rehearsal and occasionally for small pub gigs.
I bought the Rivera unheard, on reputation, and love it. After about 3 years I changed the speaker from the Eminence (I dropped a screwdriver through the cone!!!!) to a Jensen P12n (flabby at volume) and found it a poor match so kept going and settled on a Celestion G12, it provides a lot more control and chime, it seems altogether better suited to the amp - 2x EL34's.
The M60 has a lot of different sounds if you care to explore them and has perhaps the first quality amp to emulate and cover much of the traditional amp sounds Marshall through Fender. I tend to set up the 2 channels pretty standard for all gigs - cleanish and drive, there is enough to worry about without trying new settings. I don't use o/drive pedals but do have a Tremulator, wah, phaser and chorus.

I have found that my ES130 needs a deal more treble from the amp than the Teles, as you might expect. I have to take care of this so don't swap mid set - I may play around with this and see if I can get it set up for all songs. it is less of a problem at higher volumes where the richness of the harmonics seems to sound good for everything!
What are your experiences in this respect, I imagine several of you have multiple guitars?

I've enjoyed this thread, I have a sneaking suspicion that a good amp makes more difference than a good guitar, heresy I imagine on this forum?

Yes I find the same thing. Although I love my Blues Deluxe, it's hardly the most flexible amp in the world, and if I try using something other than a Strat or a Tele at a gig/rehearsal, it's hard to get both the volume & the tone right without fiddling around with the settings, which isn't really an option at a gig. I tend to use a Strat for one set and a Tele for the other set.

I have a LP special with P100s, a Gibson Blueshawk, & have just got an Epi Casino with P90s, but I've yet to use them at a gig. I don't like the thought that I need a more flexible amp, but it does look that way.

It's funny, but I find it easy to identify guitars I want, but not amps. Partly due to lack of knowledge really, which is why this is such an interesting thread.

I have a reissue Marshall Bluesbreaker that's been heavily modded...PTP board, MM trannies and new speakers (a Celestion G12H and Eminence Red Fang).

2? You must play some big gigs if one isn't enough for you?

Is this big enough for you?

Are they both Blues Deluxe amps? Looks like I'm not the only one who didn't buy an amp cover.

Well, they look really cool, I guess I made a good choice in 93?

Has your band played in England?

[/Although I love the Blues Deluxe]

Blues Deluxe would be another choice for my taste, it is close to the Blues Junior in sound with a lot more wallop. I played through one at a evening course I did at the ACM in Guildford where they are the studio amps. I really liked them but I'm committed to the Rivera.

We don't mic anything but vocals so it's good to have a bit of extra volume for the occasional Marquee gig - this prevents me from looking at the Blues Deluxe as a replacement for the 60w Rivera, and I can get close to the sound with tweaking.

Keep it up!

Yes they both are. I had to relic the '95 to look as bad as the '93. Both are amber laquerd to give that "vintage" vibe. I play in stereo and use the amps as monitors only. FOH does all the room work. For the $650.00 USC or less new, these amps are not too shabby. I've seen them used on eBay for about $450.00.

No plans to jump the pond in 2008 less I'm invited.

Here's a pic of my other rig

Here's a pic of my old rig: Mesa Boogie MII B

Thanks for asking.
