i was talking to an older friend who is an old-world wood craftsman from greece the other day. i started talking specifically about some of the things the guy in the artical was saying about the density of the mahagony affecting the tone quality. he said that the lower section of the tree is denser not only because of the sheer weight above it, but most importantly because the lower section has alot more minerals in it. he said this explains why you can have 2 identical lp's and one will weigh 2 to 3 pounds more.
