Hi! I just got a really nice acoustic, which is MIJ. The craftmanship is outstanding. However, I have trouble dating this baby.
Could one of you help, please?

Here is what I have:

- Sigma Anniversary D-10
- Copy of a Martin D-18
- 2 Serials: 815055 on the neckblock; 616848 in the body
- Soft V-neck
- "Made for Martin by Sigma", please see pics

Sorry for the large amounts of pics.

Cheers!
Rupert

1979-1985 was the production range for that model.
They made lovely accoustics but really ****** electrics 8)
Taken from Sigma's site:
Sigma Serial Numbers do not provide an indicator of the year in which a particular model was built. However, most Sigma models were offered only for a limited number of years, so that most models' construction dates can be narrowed down to a reasonable range.

Thanks mate!

It's the first acoustic I love to touch. And she sounds ... different.

Btw: do you have a plan to visit the other country, without kangaroos?

Cheers! Rup

No mate...no immediate plans for a visit.
Japan is on the cards soon though..I work for Canon and Mr.Shinahara wants some techs from Australia to visit for specialised training.....sooooo...Tokai Strat clone shopping trip methinks. 8)

Tokai has been an exclusive distributor of Martin guitars from 1972 through 1988. During this period, Tokai had made Sigma and Shenandoah models for Martin, while Tokai sold a lot of Cat's Eyes in Japan. Some engineers from Tokai factory went to Martin factory and learned their engineering. Martin fans in Japan do buy Tokais acoustic guitars with affordable prices even now.

That guitar was made in 1980. D10 stands for 10 year anniversary of the Sigma brand, est 1970.
