Just sat down and replaced the V3 12ATX7, phase splitter in the output stage , with a 12AT7 Electro Harmonics, man what a difference!
Clearer, more defined at higher levels.
With the original Fender 12AX7 the amp started to break up at really early settings ,ie, 2-3, now I can have more headroom and go to 3-4 before it starts to give e bit of distortion
I like my amps to be CLEAN & LOUD but just with a bit of overdrive if I play the strings hard
For the OD stuff I use a pedal
