I finally decided to change the PAFs on the Tokai LC

I find the Bass response a bit too high and the treble a bit weak. They are good pickups but I want a bit more versitality.

I am planning to put in two EMG 89 dual mode single/humbuckler type pickups.

Anyone here done this mod ?

What should I be carefull about.

Will the pots that come with the EMG89's fit in the LC ?

Thanks for all comments and advice

Did you know there is a 89R-model too? Active SA single-coil in different position, you get the same effect if you turn 89 180 degrees but then the text is upside down. :D

You've probably installed them already, but I have a set of EMG 89s in an Epi LP copy. I really like the clarity and single coil mode option (though volume does take a dive when the coils are split), which I use a lot. The pot shafts are delicate though and I did snap one of the split ends and had to glue the speed knob on.

I also bought a "phase reversal" switch from EMG, which I don't recommend. It doesn't give much of a squawk at all and sounds more like a treble boost.
