Is it possible to open us the Tokai PAF's and convert them to 4 conductor ?

Yes, but it's not a job a beginner should attempt. I'm not sure how much a pro would charge for the job, but it would probably be less than the cost of a new set of pickups (depending on the pickups, of course).

On the other hand, you could look at this as an opportunity for you to experiment with new pickups without risking your originals. They're good, but there's better out there and converting them would be a lot of effort that could be avoided.

I'm not all thumbs - but I wouldn't risk to remove a cap from my HBs either ...

If you would have destroyed pups like me ... you could understand why

It's to expensive, believe it!

I have 6 Tokai pickups in my closet collecting dust now. Maybe I should take a few of them apart and see what I can come up with! It might be good experience.
