Not to pick a fight here, really, but it is a WIDELY held belief in the industry that Rick Derringer played ALL the guitar on those Guns-n-Roses recordings,

hilarius if true

and my input on the topic, some guys who didnt earn a living before mtv:
tom morello (audioslave, ratm)
james hetfeild (under-rated as a rythm player)
daryn malkalian (SOAD)
kim thaiyl (soundgarden)
jerry cantrell
kurt cobain
nick oliveri (ex QOTSA)
adam jones (tool)
trey spruance (mr bungle)
herman li (dragonforce)

not that i dont appriciate the legends (hendrix, page etc.) that everyone else is raving about. i just thought these guys werent gettin enough recognition.
just hope im not the only one out there who thinks so...

Currently it's Mike McCready and I don't rate anyone else to be quite honest.

John Frusciante's OK.

Has anyone even mentioned Mick Box from Uriah Heep?
I met him a few times when they've toured Australia.
Not the flashiest of guitarists but a master of the riff and a hell of a nice bloke.
