hey guys, ive been looking at this Greco for a long time, its quite interesting, i've not seen a similar one on the internet. have u seen it before?

its fretmarkers are like Les Paul Custom ones, and on the back of the body is a carved topside. There are also these funky star tuners. and also i cant seem to see the trussrod cover (i.e. there's no white outline to the TRC)

It's a common greco from the start of the 70's. Nothing special about it. Might have a chambered body. It can be a good guitar but don't expect a perfect copycat like the mint collection or the super real as it has the big head like all early Greco have. They are also a bit heavy on the finish. But it's good guitars made with good materials. The PU are really nice.

Truss rod cover is obviously gone. :)

I have a late 70s SE-800 and love it. Great guitar in every way. Also have 2 SE-600s, one that was butchered by somebody to be a Jeff Beck model...but it too sounds great so I kept it. I really like those older Greco strats and am looking for a Fernendes from that era.

HEY EVERYONE, FIRST POST NEWBIE HERE! I WON THIS AUCTION THE OTHER DAY, HOW'D I DO:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7414520502&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

ACTUALLY THE SELLER LET ME HAVE IT FOR THE OPENING BID PRICE+SHIPPING WHICH CAME TO $460.00 usd. IT HAS A FLAW IN THE FINISH BUT WHEN I'M PLUGGED IN WHO CARES. WHEN I PLAY IT THE FIRST TIME AM I GONNA SAY TO MYSELF, "I COULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT A FENDER THIS NICE FOR $460"? FROM WHAT I'VE READ I FIGURED THIS WOULD BE THE CLOSEST THING TO PLAYING A VINTAGE FENDER I'LL EVER GET. THE AMERICAN GUITARS IN MY SMALL COLLECTION SEEM TO BE SLOWLY GETTING PUSHED OUT BY THESE GUITARS. I RECENTLY SOLD 2 GUITARS AND BOUGHT A LOVE ROCK. IT'S A SHAME BUT YOU CAN'T ARGUE WITH THE QUALITY AND PRICE. THANKS FOR ANY INPUT.

Hi!
I've got my eyes on this Greco EG. It's sold as '73 but it has set neck instead of bolt-on neck. Obviously a pancake(mahogany-mahogany) and mahogany neck with maple fretboard, seller says that electronics are original and functioning but the fretboard is a mess. Probably it can be fixed.
Could I get your opinions, please?
Maybe a price tag too? ; )

Thank you!

ps. Pics: http://kotisivu.mtv3.fi/JM/greco.zip

pss. I asked a few questions from the seller and add them here with answers as soon as I get them.

EDIT: I think it might be EG-650N as seen here http://psyco.jp/greco/c02_03.html

Asked the serial and got an answer that serial numbers were introduced to Grecos 1974. Q:What happened to the fretboard? A:Lacquer has worn off due to the playing. Q:Neck profile? A:50's chunky.

serial says it was made in 1980 but there's no super real text on headstock. and body top is plain maple. so I guess it's an EG-450 or 500 which was made just before Greco started the Super Real Project.

so changed truss cover from the one with standard on to a plain superreal one must be v late EG

makes sense tho...

I was thinking of that mint collection I saw with superreal headstock...same thing just next transition..lol

Thanks for the input! The store charged about ?600, a bit more than the amount you stated so I will keep searching for that japaneese les paul =)

Hi Everyone-Newebie here. I have been very fortunate in recent months to have stumbled upon a couple of upper end Greco Les Pauls. The one in question is a 1982(seriall# I82....) Has the Open "O" in Greco. It has the flower pot logo and double trick pickups. The tuners are the gold ribbed tuners consistant with the ones that are on a real Gibson 1954 Les Paul Black
Beauty custom. It has the fret edge binding. the confusing part is that the neck seems thinner on the Black Beauty than on my Mint Collection '59 reissue. The truss rod cover on the Black Beauty states "Super Real Custom"
Both guitars have the long neck tenon. The '59 has the dryz pickups.I don't seem to hear too much about the double trick pickups. Are they rare? Anybody out there with similar features?
