SS38 = SS40. Same features, different colors.

SS38 = yellow sunburst, white and black
SS40 = metalic red, metalic blue and metalic silver

Hi, how do you know, which model has which colour? And how can I recognize the other models? Are SS48 and SS50 better tahn SS38? Please, if you have any info, I would be very glad, if you share it with me, I want to buy Silver Star Strat, and I want higher model, than SS38. Thank You very much. Best Regards

I have spend a few hours searchiung this site, reading old articles, but I didnt find the answer:-( Maybe I just cant search..., please send me the link. Thank You

I have spend a time searching the catalogs, the most helpfull is obviously 1982, but I cant speak Japanese, so it is pretty useless for me:-( Still dont know the differences between SS38, 40, 48, 50, 80 model...

Ok, you have said, there is no difference between 38 and 40, just in colour. And what about the other models?

I have found SS48:

http://photos.yahoo.co.jp/ph/oktecsav/lst?.dir=/59dc&.src=ph&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.co.jp/

where is the difference between lower and higher models?

I don't know but if I were you I'd call it ...

The Beppe Signature Model!!!

How does it sound? Tell us! Tell us!

The head is made of two pieces, so maybe 38, question is, whether models, that have head form one piece are higher model (48) or, they can be both 38 and higher...

I'm not shure the "2-piece"-head theory is correct, but...
In another topic someone says :
-"ST-Vintage Mk2 for SS60. "The 'U' pickups are the ST-Vintage MkII and have a grey base"
http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4552

and
- "SS-60 do NOT have bullet truss rod, 3-bolt neck or black scratchplates. Serial numbers are on the neckplate also."
http://www.tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4639

So, what i mean is that there are alot of conclusions that mismatch..

Have someone photos of the U series or the other series pickups? Maybe it is a good start for recognizing the SS series strat models...

to beppe1266: The links are very usefull

beppe1266: is there something written on your guitar pickups? What model do you think it is??

No, nothing is written on the pickups.
And i really don't know what model it is.

On Springys, the modell nr 50 is stamped on the last fret if the guitar has maple fret board an it is an ST50. I have seen Silver Stars with maple fretboard and 38 (SS38) stamped on the last fret. Is this only for the low-end model? I know ST60 do not have it. Have anyone seen an SS with 48 or 80 stamped on the fretboard?

Mine has no stamp..

Hi
I'm also confused about the different Silver Star models..
I have read all ( i think) the treads about SS but i do not find answers to my questions..

Since I'm very busy at present time.
Anyhow, I'll start later on a thread with all answers regarding all Tokai Silver Stars.-
It will enlighten all questions.
Just relax.
