orville / obg - what were the production years?

I need to know exactly what were the production years of both orvilles and orvilles by gibson, I heard it was 84-93, but I need to confirm this because a store just gave me a serial number of 510240 which doesn't seem to be right because 85 orvilles had only 5 digits...

So what were the production years?
And is it possible that they gave me a wrong serial?

It's been given many; many; many times on this board if you only mind using the search button.
Anyway it's 87-97 according to Gibson-japan.

They were produced till 1999 when they changed to Epiphone (STAY AWAY FROM 1996 ones). Yours should be a 1995.

Can anyone confirm this (I'm pretty sure though)?

why are telling me to stay away from 96 orvilles, don't you mean korean orville? what makes 96 japanese orville bad guitars? I see no evidence of such...

answer
orvilles ..88-early 98 then changed name to epiphone till 2000..
Orville by Gibson 88-94..
1996 korean assembled (stickered)
1996 Japanese assembled (stamped/inked.)

info gained from having over 150 of these pass through my hands ..

there may be some 87's ..but I've never seen one ...

Villager is right, it's 88-98 according to Gibson.jp...
