Hi everyone. I just bought a 1981 SS 40 Strat. As far as I can tell it's all original, if not then let me know. Also it's near mint with a few very minor scrapes near the bottom strap button. Plays very nicely.

EDIT:
I forgot to mention that the clear plastic coating is still on the pickguard

Thanks for responding. I had my doubts about it's originality because it's very clean, like new.

Hi Kmax,

The warranty card with serial# shows it is definately original.
This was however made in the Nagano factory, not Hamamatsu.
The serial# style, routing, neck style and pickups are all Nagano features not used on other SilverStars made in Hamamatsu.
What is interesting is even for a 1981 SilverStar, it is stamped SS-40 and not SS-38 due to the YS colour.
SS-38 were YS, OW or BB and the SS-40 were generally only MB, SG or MR so it is unusual but it is genuine. The Warranty card verifies that.
