Hey there
I just bought a 1984 Goldstar Sound 60, in sunburst with a rosewood fretboard on Craigslist. The guitar is all original in near mint condition with original case. I’m fairly new to Tokai guitars and wondering if someone could give me a rough idea of what the value of this guitar is or if they are collectable. I’ve done a search Gbase and Reverb, but can’t find anything in similar condition for a comparable.
Many thanks.

There is an Imgur link in the post, I was having trouble attaching pics - did you try that?
Thanks

Ok now i can see them. Looks to be in great shape as well. To find price you'd have to go under the hood and see if its all original etc.. not been re-routed etc..

Where do you live ?? U.S. ?? that also makes a difference

Thanks for your replies, Brokentoes. Here are some gut shots - it looks fairly unmolested.

Well that's a really nice example. noone has messed it up and it has the more upscale "E" pickups. The body looks to have what i usually associate with Springy sound routing but i have no idea when all that changed.

I live in Canada myself (GTA) but i don't know enough about the vintage ones to really give you a good estimate on value. If i was to buy it depending on a few things i'd say easy $700-$900 CDN, maybe more if the case is original Tokai. This is just my opinion.

Not many know of Tokai here in Canada so they are not easy sells.

Thanks for all your input on this Brokentoes, it’s appreciated.
It’s a great Strat, better than most I’ve played, and more a great price.

Buying in Canada can lead to some great deals on Tokai. I know i've scored some great deals myself.

I've got one of these that I bought new back in 1984. Same finish, same case. First serious guitar that I bought.

I have a couple of 1984 TST 60’s one with a maple board and one rosewood, both have E pups, with regard to pricing I can tell you I have a TST 50 bought new in Toronto at Kalua Music in 1984 and it was $299.00 CAD. with the case.
