When did Fernandes start production in China?

Post by bencuri » Sun Jul 15, 2018 5:43 pm

So the question is added, when did Fernandes move a part of its production to China? I would like to figure out where my guitar was made.

What guitar do you have? Post some photos and we'll see. They first started moving production offshore around 1988, gradually expanding it through the 90s and from ca 2000 most of it was made there.

There currently isn't any solid proof it was to Korea (if you have any specific info, let's have it), although we've thought it to be due to the practice of scarf joint necks. However, several Chinese companies have done that as well. This production seems to be only 1999 and 2000, maybe into 2001, and then of course the Yako factory ones come in with the headstock serials starting 2002.
