Thanks for your comment BrianGT. As a family business started in 1947 I think they really appreciate the feedback from customers. I will try and get the guitar shopping in Tokyo article completed in the next month.

Just to link the threads, my Guitar shopping in Tokyo thread is here:

As a post script I found these shots of the original 80's brass knobs fitted to my snow white special edition with brass Fender scratchplate. I think it looks spot on!

Where can I buy the gold pickguards?

I need to send a few to Tokai for an order they're doing for me.

I am think about going to Japan and might as well visit the factory if possible. How do you set that up?

must be the best post ever …
if you are back in Glesga we must get together !!
where did you buy your first Tokai was it Thompsons in Buchanan St ?
that's where i got mine .

Cheers mate, I didnt buy a Tokai, I went Squier at Sound Control. I bought an orignal metallic blue from one of the Sound control dudes who bought them when they first came in so mine was well giged when I got it but in the original case.

I didnt have the choice of a Tokai at Cuthebertsons in the west end but £10 cheaper and the 7ender make swayed me. Silly but it was a relly good Squier 'popular' which I regret selling on. Still have the Tokai (features in my ebook - link below :) )
