So I picked up a third Tokai Strat today !
It’s a black ST50 , prob 1985.
I’ll take some proper photos soon and post them.
This may possibly have `fender pickups in them . No grey bottom bobbins stamped U, E or VII.
They have Black plastic bottoms with 016730 moulded into them .
This corresponds with various fender pickups , from Am std to tex mex to JP ones.
They sounds very natural , and classic Strat , loads of quack.
In fact compared to the other two I got recently that are much more bluesy sounding, this is a funk machine ! So that suits me down to the ground.
I will be selling the other two as this one just suits me better.
If anyone is interested

Hi,
The pups are the cheap Japanese Fenders used on the regular series guitars. _________________ The world will not end today...because it is already tomorrow in Australia. |

https://planetbotch.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/1980s-fender-japan-vintage-strat-pickup.html Although these pickups are cheap and have plastic instead of fibre bobbins, they are alnico and they are so well wound that they do not need wax potting and never squeal. These are some of my favourite strat pickups and I have tried a quite a few in my time and the big surprise is that notwithstanding their non vintage construction they sound superb in my opinion .I am not the only one that likes them too it seems. _________________ bluejeannot |
