Purchased what I thought was an all original early 80's SST 36 save for the bridge pickup.

Have a look at the ebay link below please...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/331910418183?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Now that it arrived and I took it apart I feel that the pickup routes might be off for that model. As well why would there be a notch on the neck pocket to adjust a guitar with a bullet truss rod?

And while it is a micro tilt model, there is no true micro tilt round plates on either neck or body. Just a small allen screw buried underneath the three bolt plate.

Could you fellow Tokai experts please chime in?

As well I did a search and found this thread with the same body routes....

Hi, only initial observation is that there is no body code showing the colour eg yso. SS features seem to be there but they could have put a decal on the headstock?

Hello

I have looked at the waterslide decal and even have another Tokai SS to compare it too and I am pretty sure that the neck is 100% authentic.

The body and its squared off routes are suspect to me.

The micro tilt neck look right too, does the plate have a number or is it the same as your other SS?

Yeah those are Greco routes for sure, later 70s.
Which there is nothing wrong with that at all but not a Tokai body as their routes are rounded, Fujigen like.

This is a genuine Tokai body produced by FujigenGreco for Tokai hence the atypical routing. Not all Silverstars were built at Hammamatsu.Even the mismatched pickups may well be original.
