How is this guitar compared to old ones and like Gibson Custom Shop SG Standard?

Anyone here tried it or has this guitar?

Nice specs anyway:

I recently bought a new Vintage Series and then a Premium series guitar.
They are both LS (Les Paul) models rather than SG guitars but the construction and quality will be the same. I bought a Vintage Series LS113s
fist:

It is a nice guitar and stands up to ANY Gibson non custom shop models. The fit and finish are 1st rate. The poly finish is very thin and looks exactly like lacquer. All the hardware is medium quality and is very comparable to what Gibson puts on its guitars.

I liked this guitar so much I bought this:

All I can say is WOW! It is an excellent guitar. Better than either one of my Gibson 57 reiusses'. I had a VOS ($3500) and Wildwood spec ($5800)models. This guitar is resonant and has excellent tone! Unplugged it sounds great (resonant and bright). All the hardware is top notch as well as the electronics. The pickups sound every bit as good as any humbucker I have played included the wildwood spec humbuckers on my R7

I could go on and on but for $1300 you can't go wrong. If you get a Premium series Tokai you will sell all your Gibsons like I did.

Oh, I also just bought this:

Gibson charges $5000, Tokai charges $1700 and the Tokai has SOLID top back and sides while the Gibson are laminate.....[/img]

I got an SG104 about 4 months ago from Guitar Planet. Cost about 700.00. Excellent SG in walnut brown. The 196s are about twice the price.

Get the SG196, totally worth the extra money.

Upgraded hardware and electronics: aluminum tailpiece, brass saddles
better pots and toggle switch, upgraded tuners

Also the wood is sorted for weight
and grain, guitar is lighter and more resonant.

Lacquer finish etc.

I agree - the SG196 has stuff that you can't upgrade on later (wood).

It is lacquer top coat only though, not a full lacquer finish. The full lacquer finish is only on the high end stuff.
