Hi Guys,

Thanks for taking a look.

I saw an online listing for a 1979 Tokai Silver Star going for $450 USD and thought it was worth a shot.

I know nothing about Tokai's except someone once told me the 70's strats were as good as the Fenders.

It arrived in the post today:

Is it really a 1979 Silver Star? Does anyone know roughly how much is it worth?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

I'm not going to be able to help you much here, just here ti say that if nothing else it looks pretty f'in nice. I love the wood grain on that.

Hahaha thanks Hek. It's real light and plays nice too, so definitely worth it imho.

Was just curious whether it was as advertised is all.

Only way to really tell is to open it up and look at what's under the hood (pickups, electronics, stamps in body cavities and neck pocket/heel)

Tuners aren't correct.

I'm pretty sure I had those original tuners on an SS-48 I had a few years back. Yours is also an SS-48 like this one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/rafaeldelima/sets/72157623794712451/

Thanks for the answers guys!
