Hello friends,

I have been trying to date this Breezysound model without luck... The logo was taken off long ago but I know it had the one I attach...

Taking a look at the registry, I am not sure whether it was made in 84-85 or later. Also, I am not sure if all Breezy's were MIJ or mine is Korean.

I will check if any numbers are hidden anywhere.

Could anyone help me out?? Let me know if the pics won't load!

Really appreciate it! :)

After 1983 it becomes more difficult to estimate a date, because I've found plate serial # assignments are either non-sequential,
or a lot of # plates were being switched along with necks.
I've come across 1982 models with higher 6 digit numbers than yours, but yours would have had a spaghetti or block logo if 1982 or 1983 respectively.

I would consider it a 1984-85 TE-55 N model as you say, based only on the Tokai decal it once had.

Thank you very much!! This is actually very close to what the guys at Tokai have told me.

What does the N stand for? I've seen a catalogue in which the TTE50 was around ?50000 and the N version only ?5000. Is this one MIJ?

Thanks a lot once again. I'm glad I bought this piece when I was a kid.

Glad to help.

N = natural finish with the base N finish model being a TE-55.

I don't see Tokai stamped on the bridge, but I'm pretty sure later production Korean ATE models
wouldn't have been available with a neck skunk stripe, assuming the neck was original.
The neck plate has a Tokai Japan 1982 or newer serial # format.
Korean serial #'s were decals on the neck heel.

If you pull the neck pickup, OEM Japan TE-55 pickups have a TEB ink stamp on backs of pickup base plates.

fran, the good news is the te55 N cost 5000 yen MORE than te50, so it would
have cost 55000 yen, NOT 5000 yen. :D

Well, that is really good news Jonah65!!! :D

I have just been told that it might be from 81?

Thank you guys for your help! This seems to be a tough one!

Hola Fran,

Primero) This guitar is NOT from 1981.

Segundo) This may not be a Tokai.

Get in touch with Luis, another Forum member who lives in Spain. He can physically look at it and tell you what it is.

Headstock detail is not right for a TE55N, there is no shadow from previous decal and string tree is the wrong shape also the body join is not correct. TE55N had a centre join, not off to the side.
If this is a Tokai Breezysound it would have been made later than 1985.
It should have ink stamps on the base of the neck and in the control cavity, as well as 'TEB' or 'TEA' stamped in white on the bottom of both pickups.

Please let us know.

Hi Fran looks like your tele is most likely a Matsumoko guitar from the mid 80s could be a Profile silhouette or vintage model.they built them from sen ash or alder two or more pieces the norm .the big neck screws used plus the bridge and body are the giveaway .i have had a few Profiles good solid copies .

HI Fran just to add to my previous post if the holes thru the body are the same size under the bridge as on the back to accept the ferrules that was another Matsomoku practice i dont know that Tokai did the same. .cheers.
