I have to let go of some guitars.

So, what we have here is a early Greco SE800 Super Real, made in December 1979.

Overall its in great condition for its age. Just a few dings and some buckle wear on the back. The pickguard and pickups have been replaced with modern Fender pickups by a previous owner. It has been played a lot which results in some fretwear. I think it needs some work here soon. Besides that it plays and sounds great.

As most Super Real SE800's is has a huge neck.

Asking price is 900?, shipping in Germany included, EU add 25?.

Here are the pictures.

I bought it and saw that there?s a humbucker routing under the pickguard.
The electronics are totally messed up.

What a shame.

First he told me that he would refund money if I want to send it back.
But now I don?t get any answer since a few weeks.

If I have to keep her I must redo the whole electronics and maybe a refret.
That?s not a bargain at all :-(

The listing said he thinks the frets need work soon and the wiring is possible to fix fairly easily. However, not mentioning the humbucker body modification is just bad.

Agree with Villager. What a **** shame and a sin to do that to such a beautiful and well made guitar. A clear case of someone not knowing what they had .... or perhaps during the time that MIJ guitars were considered junk.

I put in new electronics and H?ussel pickups.

It also got a refret.

Sounds and plays really good now.

The HB routing was redone by my luthier.

Do you think I should put in some original excel pickups like these?

They should be the right one for a SE-800 I guess.

Did you ever hear back from the seller?

Not since I asked him to take it back.

Here he is, call him and ask him - maybe he?s not happy with negative comments in the web...

Maybe HE"S not happy? What about the buyer?

I'd be furious..... If I bought it on Paypal or on a credit card (always buy with one or the other in the event of something like this), I'd refuse the charge after providing photos and an explanation of what I was paying for, and what I received.

What a scumbag thing to do and a completely chickensh*t manner in dealing with it. Buyer beware with this guy.

Hi marcus, that was kind of ironic, sorry, i?m totally with you and the buyer -
The idea has been to push the seller to be fair cause now here everybody can
"see" him "in person" and he is a business man and will not like negative comments like that one here - i just wanted to help....

Sorry... I didn't mean any offense toward you with my harsh words. And I agree, sometimes taking the high road works better (or to quote a favorite Texas phrase, "You get more bees with honey than with vinegar").

However, it is a two way street - sounds like the buyer did the proper thing by politely contacting the seller first before mentioning it here..... after having paid in good faith for what he thought was buying.

i tried that before because I found the website too.
Didn?t catch him on the phone or on the other email address.

I really gave up, just beware of him here now!

Btw, I just bought some original Greco Excel Pickups to give them a try.
