Folks,
for the first time in all those years of guitar playing I have two
trapezoid inlays coming loose at one edge.
Any recommendations for the fix?
Do I have to yank the entire thing out?
What glue to use?
thx

Hello Gordon, I guess it is fixable not sure what kind of glue is used for this kind of repair.
Sometimes , the trapezoid inlays get destroyed when taking off, if so replacements are a must, Crazy Parts sell some accurate 50ś ones.

I guess Dave Johson have some kind of tutorial or pics about it somewhere.

Hi Luis,
actually 5 of them came off in one piece. It's not a Tokai but a Fuji-Gen made Epi mij. I am surprised as they seem to have no glue residue on the back. Hm.
Might hand that over to the luthier.

just clean out any residue, make sure they fit back flush and then a tiny bit of superglue in the corners and re fit them..

Yep, that's what the luthier did with my original 62 Casino, although I'm not sure how much glue he used (it was superglue).

The inlay was only lifting up at one side on mine.

Thanks guys, I followed your advice and used super glue. All sit firm and tight now. Maybe this happened due to different climate (guitar was shipped from asia 8 weeks ago).
I hope they stay put now!
Gordon
