Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of buying a Tokai Goldstar from the mid 80's. The seller sent me a couple of photo's of the guitar and i doubt if it's an original genuine Japanese Tokai. The pickups don't seem original and i'm also not sure about the pickguard and electronics. Can you help me out?

I hope to hear from you guys!

Hi

It has an original logo, neck MAY be from an ST-40 but other than that, it's been attached to a different body+electrics.

Avoid this - it's a fake

I think it's ST40 neck, machine heads and body, so all wood bits legit.
Replaced scratchplate and pickups, and a few replacement saddles. Bridge screws not original as should be Philips type not slot type.

tokai japan st40.
electrics changed (as is common with 95% of 40's ceramic pickups).
some new saddles.
hardly a collectors item, but still a good guitar.
worth about ?200 imo.
