So, if you have a Springy sound from 1981, why do you need to sand all the finish off the neck to make it more authentic?

Mine is beaten up a bit, but I'm sure I could devalue it nicely with some bare 'oiled' wood on the back of the neck.

It's not a Springy neck. Whole thing is a partscaster.
