I need your help guys... I'm new here, and I just got my first Greco Les Paul yesterday... I don't know if I got it cheap or what but I just paid $450 on it...

From my initial assessment I think it's an authentic Greco made in Japan. Weight is right (it's a neck breaker, so heavy), it has serial number. The tone is good.

Here are the pictures:

hi
this is a 1990 greco eg550 if i remember right ..
look really nice ,,, but many dont like them
they have bolt on neck ...
but as allways ,,,,the only thing that matters is how does it play :D :D

all the best

hooray somebody just replied!

Thanks for the info... the thing im so curious about is the serial... is the 0 on the first digit an 80s or a 90s?

hi
0 as the first digit can be 1980 or 1990 or 2000
but they did not make this bolt on model in 1980.... so a 1990 model
easy :D

that's what i thought so hahaha... bolt on started 85 right?

well now atleast i know what my guitar is... still a good one and loving the sound on it :)

I really appreciate the help you guys have extended... i will frequent this boards...

cheers to tokairegistry!!!

I think 90 was the only year for that bolt on style neck, maybe 88-89 too.I had a 90 Black Beauty Custom with the same neck,I thought is was a decent guitar for around 300.But not as good as the set neck models.Hard to sell too.Since yours is a sunburst I;s say you did OK.

The sound is quite awesome on this beast even if it has a bolt on... its' like a set-in with a bolt on? regardless of the neck joint, it still packs a very good sustain imho...

I will try to post a video on the sustain of the Greco and compare it with my Elegee Custom Les Paul which is a neck-through...

I wouldn't get to hung up on the bolt on neck, Suhr standard and moderns have bolt on necks and they are awesome guitars. I have owned and played some brilliant bolt on neck guitars. Yours looks great and if it sounds as good well done.

It does sound good for me :) I hope I have some time to post a video tomorrow to show the Greco in action :)

I used a Behringer V-AMP2 connected to the FX Loop of a Hot CAbs 15W amplifier...

Here's another one from that gig..... Magic Sam was the coolest. That's Earl Hooker's (obviously) MIJ Univox bolt neck Les Paul:

Point is, if it sounds good, play it.....
