i want to know if the model sg 70 exists because i have heard informatin about it, but it doesnt appear in the official website, can you tell me if exists? and if is from japan or korea? tanks

Hi bojman, sorry for overlooking your post. Yes, the SG copy exists, but is called USG xx these days, as far as I know. I think I saw a new one on the Tokai UK site in white for a fair price, here's the link:

http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk/

They list it under Models -> Love Rock. They exist in low (might be from Korea) and high priced versions. Anyhow, you could also use the forum search for "usg" and come up with some more infos about this guitar. And the catalogues on the main site are also a good source of information.

I think only the english importer calls them USG (just as they call the LS models ALS). For the Japanese market they're still called the SG 70 as far as I know. This is the same guitar as the SG 60, until the MSRP of the entire Tokai line was raised slightly and the model numbers changed along with that (LS75 became LS85, SG 60 became SG 70 etc)

firstly thankyou very much for your answers :D

OK, so I understand you can buy this guitar from a friend and now you want to know what it's worth? Well, the sticker "Made in Japan" and the Kluson type tuners look original, but that's about all I could say, because the differences between Korean and Japanese models are in the type of wood mostly, i.e. one piece mahogany body or multiple pieces, different wood for body and neck (normally also mahogany, not maple). The fact that it has a stamped serial number would support the Japanese origin, too.

i am also fear about other thing, he is not my friend, i know him from internet and im going to meet him to buy the guitar, he seems to be a loyal person but i have some doubs, i means, first, he says it is from japan, and as you say, it seems to be jappaness, but in the other hand he says it is the sg70, a guitar of 800 ? (more or less).
but, if it is the sg 35? this guitar is not so good!! is there any form you to know if it is the sg70? because it is a little bit dangerous...

Hi Bojman,

I don't know for a fact but I doubt very much that guitar is a 35, I'd guess a 60 or 70. From the serial number it was made in 1996 and the lower-end 35 doesn't show up until the 2000 catalogue (according to the pics of the catalogue pages at the Tokai Registry page.)

Here's a shot of the SG from the '97 catalogue:

Hopefully that's what you have there.

Good luck!

Jim
