Ah, ok, I didn't understand that correctly. So that would make this a probably a?83 or ?84 specimen, all other clues considered.

And here are some pictures of Breezy in her new, white gown (am I getting carried away or what :D)

But I really love the white pickguard on her!

I thnk that tele is just classy with the white pickguard :)

as for the dot markers, you can see what jacco means in the 1984 catalog
http://brochures.yokochou.com/guitar-and-amp/tokai/1984/en_06.html

The TE55n (middle, frontrow) has the wider 12th fret markers while the higher models TE80 (upper row, middle) have the narrower spacing.

The treble bleed you talked about could be an original feature. The ones I have seen have had 2 capacitors and 1mega Ohm pots. A really trebly circiut, Fender used that in the 70s. A matter of taste if you like it.

I can send you a picture of an original breezy circiut if you want, just pm me.

Makes sense, as these 70s Teles were probably what was around when they started copying them.

You've got a nice old Tele there OP, and I would probably have got rid of the treble bleed as well. :)

Yes, I see what you mean regarding the markers. So all in all this is probably a '84 model!

As for the electronics: there are two 250k pots in this one with I think an 0.47 uF capacitor in between.

Two legs of the volume pot were joined by a 0.01 uF capacitor. I added a 220k resistor in parallel, so backing off the volume wouldn't make it sound as shrill as it did.

I would like a copy of the original electronics though!

And yes: white does look classy on her I think!

Pukka, I am going to to change the electronics, so also the 1meg pots in mine very soon, so you can have those if you like. It originally had a white pickguard so, you can get it back in original state then :)

Wow Jacco, that's a generous offer! I do however not intent to bring it back to its original state. I might if I had the neckplate, but since that's gone I think I just leave it like it is: a great player with a story :)

What are you going to do to your electronics? Are you keeping your pickups? I'm starting to quite like mine.

Really beautiful guitar Pukka-J. I definetly like the the white pickguard...

My TE80 (from 80 or 81) has a center seamed two-piece body...

I believe its nitro...checking has begun :p so check for that

Amazing guitar!

Would love to see pics of that one too then!

OK here goes: 1980-81 Tokai TE80. Refret a couple of years ago. Loaded with SD antiquities and a s1 swithing system. Plays and sounds amazing!

It's a bit difficult to see, but small vertical cracks are starting to show in the lacquer...(also check out the flame on the neck!)

Together with my 1983 Fender JV (I believe it might be a ST57-115...but the writing in the neck cav is all smudged and the pups were changed to suhrs when i bought it...great guitar none the less!)

As for the pots in Tokai Teles:

I?ll just borrow member fuzztones pics from this thread hoping he doesn?t mind: http://tokaiforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=19892&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15&sid=e3557312ec1772e5ea92f85a48762c2a

The circuit in my TE50 looks exactly the same.

Looks like the standard vintage circuit with treble bleed cap.
It is a good circuit as you just crank the amp up and control it all from the guitar.
Some abhor messing with both controls but you get used to it very quickly. I adapted my Strat to have the same cap across the volume pot lugs.
