...and if so, what did you think of it?

And how'd it compare to what you have right now?

I've not but a friend of mine has. His Facebook comments and a photo of the guitar:

"Here is a pic of me with a real 1959 Les Paul burst.
My friend Berndt Grohl from Germany brought this out to a jam
and let me play it for a set. It was slated for sale to Martina McBride
for 190K, but the deal fell through. Let me say that I have owned
many 50's LP's, but never a 59' burst. I will say this was the best LP
I have ever played, hands down. I was blown away that this guitar
was so good in every way imaginable. Anyone have a spare 190K?"

I have Mikey, actually just last week. The Phantom will have to get into detail later.

Thing is Marcus - judging by his expression, he doesn't look that impressed.

I've played many 58-60 bursts.
Outstanding guitars.
The tone, the vibe, the sound, the smell etc...
Can't beat it!

I usually play a -57 (when I don't play SG Special)
Most fantastic Lester I ever tried.
The neck is fatter than a baseball bat.

I played a 58 burst once briefly unplugged. The one guitar that comes very close in feel (neck profile) and sound is my 1981 LS100 and that's not my favorite LP :)

I wonder what would happen if a blind test was performed. Original Burst Gibson, best Tokais and other quality Les Pauls, which of them would be winner?

See this article:

Cheers, Alex.

yes, well known...

Some year ago i saw very close a friend of mine playing a '57 LP. He is a prof.

Well, it was fantastic but (i'm not joking) he then played a Greco egf 1200 and his amp (handmade Plexi clone) was on fire... i don't know...
Vintage burst are marvelous
i saw also a '58 and '59 very close (about 3,5 m) that were sounding like heaven... ehm... they were in Knopfler's hands. Is it valid?
