It is often criticized that Gibson uses a tone killing "condom" around the trussrod to protect it against the glue when the fretboard is mounted. What about obg ? Anybody who knows if they used this condom as well ?

You didn't know it ? Some people can hear the grass growin...it's almost becoming an industry. You can pay a fortune for some luthiers : they will tell you first that a guitar with this sleeve is not as resonant as one without. They remove the fretboard and the trussrod in the sleeve and install you a historic correct trussrod before they glue a new fretboard on the neck using the same glue made from bones as for the famous bursts. Some luthiers are specialists in bringing your guitar to burst specs. If you buy a Gibson historic for 5000 usd you can loose twice that much if you meet the right luthier...
Anyway I would like to know how japanese Gibsons are build.Just interest.

I'm definitely one who thinks a lot of things do matter when talking about getting a great guitar......

Nice resonant wood, good pickups, electronics, and even to a small degree I would agree with the thickness of the finish being important. All these things add up.....but still....

lol....some of these people are just idiotic with the importance they put on minutia...
