Is there anything identifying marks anywhere on the silver star to verify which model it is or if it is alder vs ash?

Also I thought a eveything before a 1984 was a lawsuit era or am I confusing this with pre lawsuit era?

I really love the tone of this Tokai but I cant get in contact with the guy.

It says its all original except the tuners. Can anyone identify which model, year or if its ash?

Also what are good tuners to get for replacements for the silver star considering this tone?

I've never seen or played one of the higher end Silver Stars but some of the forum members that have them speak very highly of them.

The post CBS Fender Strats that the Silver Stars are fashioned after are not very highly regarded compared to the earlier 50's and 60's strats. Fender cut a lot of corners in mass producing them. Lots of people don't like the 3 bolt, micro tilt adjustable neck.

I have an SS38 and my springy's sound and play much better.

hi
i have one ss model a ss 48/50 ,,, have sold 2 ss 50 models .... they are very good guitars all mine had a slim 70 neck and they are copy off the 70 strat if you like that ,,,, they are cheap and i think they are good quality ,,, the only difference from a ss38 to a ss 50 is the tuners and pickups ... and they can easy be changed :D :D so if you find a cheap ss 38 buy it and then if you like it you could upgrade the guitar
i think they are very unterrated guitars
all the best

i would ve imagined there would be more differences than just the replaceable parts. Hmmm interesting. i owned an ss38 but it wasn t in very good condition. I ve always liked the cbs strat headstock ... Hmm - silvestar gas ...
