Just read Emiels post - what gives it away to you Em.,?

I think it's the cutaway of the horn Mike; a little deeper but especially wider,
typical for EGFs & not 'vintage correct'

Jacco your killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats the type of flame I love, very subtle. I'm not a huge fan of the 120 and up I guess because of the veneer tops, just a preference. There werent really many 59 bursts that had crazy flame on them.
I love my LS80's, looking for the right Greco!!!Seems like you have it Jacco

JV, thanks for the comment, means alot coming from a heavyweight like yourself.

OMG Mikey-----------thank you for the forum posting lesson, your a champ!

Fella's would love to see more.
Jacco will we ever know what your #1 really is?

Thanks P.!
I think acoustically my #1 is the EGF1800, amplified though, it's this one:

Yep, it's my 1980 ish Nav. Been posted on here afew times but any excuse  Not absolutely sure of the year or model. It has no serial and was bought as junk with no no pups or electrics. After a bit of TLC and tokai mkII pickups it sounds absolutely great and it's like a nice pair of old shoes to play.

Of the guitars posted so far I like Jacco's 1980 Greco EGF1800 best to look at.

After seeing the flames on yours, I wonder how many members are scratching the paint off the pickup cavities of their black or gold tops.

So........prior to this topic thread I already knew that my 1980 Greco gold top did not have a center seam top. Mine did not have any paint in the pickup cavity so no extra work for me - just look for the seam and the wood grain for flame potential.

Has anyone found anything interesting yet?

Grasshopper what is your # 1?

As a MIJ aficionado, but only a basement player, this is the one I pickup most days. Unlike you, who has worked hard to possess some incredible chops, my guitar playing is for my ears only.

Very interesting. I have said for a long time now, "there is no such thing as a coincidence".

If you look just above your post - I happened to obtain the Dry Z pickups in my LS-80 from Don Mare in a round about way. They were in a Greco EGF-1000 that he had. He had upgraded it with a pair of Dry Zs he purchased from a Japanese seller.

I got a good deal on the Greco, knowing that I would be able to sell it and keep the Dry Zs if I wanted to (of course I wanted to keep the Dry Zs). The guitar was nice, but I just couldn't come to terms with the weight (nearly 10 lbs) and the veneer top.

Although I have never purchased any of his own pickups, I think Don is a really nice guy to deal with, based on my interactions with him regarding the purchase of the Greco.

Yep,
there was a thread in the electronic forum about the pups you bout.

Alright here are 2 audio clips of the Nash Les Paul.
There are 3 tracks, one Rhythm, one Arpeggio chordal thingy and then, a solo. The first clip has a clean solo, and the second has a dirty solo.
I did not care about the hum from my amp, the mistakes on the tracks (one take), nor the EQ. You should get the jist of what it sounds like.

Hopefully I can get clips of my Number 1 soon.

Very nice playing P., like the phrasing a lot - your own composition? What was the amp? Particularly liked the clean tone ( bear in mind I'm listening on an iPod sans headphones)

Mike.
