Has anyone compared the STD series to the STD/FM? I'm wondering if the price difference is only about the 1P body and flamed top, or if woods are also of better quality on the FM? The hardware and pickups seem to be the same.

The flame maple tops are solid... not veneer. Other than that, they are pretty much the same as you mention above

Yeah I think those are the only differences from what they told me. I went for the plain as I'm not a huge fan of the figured maple. It all depends on that particular piece of wood. Some I love some I don't care for at all.

Yeah I was set on the "standard" STD ones, but wulfman's FM looks so killer :) He picked the one though, hard to find another visually in this league 8)

The flame on mine is sick..... and I'm not a flametop guy:

Very very nice guitar I do like flame a lot.

I have been checking Baccus webpage and I found some luthiers from Phillipines ,very curious http://www.deviser.co.jp/modules/documents/index.php?content_id=14&phpMyAdmin=453ec4928fc42t5359e935r817

Wow Marcus, that's a mighty fine instrument!
How does she play?

Thanks. Plays real nice.... taken me awhile to get used to the jumbo neck. Stock pickups are interesting.... they use different magnets for the neck and the bridge which gives it a real unique tone.... bridge pickup output is pretty hot at over 14 while the neck is a tad over 8. It sounds darker than any other Les Paul I've played but I like it. Just received the full Faberkit gear for it (alum tailpiece, locking studs, locking bridge with brass saddles and the improved bridge studs). Going to get those installed when I change strings again.

I saw that too.... interesting. Wondering if the demand is exceeding their Japanese production capability and they are adding more manpower. I imagine labor costs have something to do with it too.

The phillipines factory make the mid priced global series which consist of Basses and Fender type guitars, i,m not aware of any Gibson style guitars made there.

I bought mine thru mail order too. The are friendly and very responsive. They'll send you pictures if you ask them to.

Mine's from an earlier batch judging from the serial number. Flames are not as unique as those on Wulf's or Marcus's but still nice... :)

I've been following this thread for the last month or so and, bored at work yesterday, re-read it in it's entirety...

This thread should be banned for cruelty - it's making me want to sell my body, my mother, all my possessions, just to get hold of a Bacchus Classic...

Oh dear, what's a poor boy going to do...

Nice one Vader!! Gorgeous top and a real pretty backside. That first batch of 500 guitars is pretty spectacular. The plaintops are really nice too.

Nice one too! I didn't understand where you bought this one?

I got mine from here..

http://bacchusdo.com/english/index.html

Send your enquiry to Naoki Ishihara at [email protected]

There are also other shops that would ship overseas like

http://www.guitarplanet.co.jp/index.cgi
and
http://www.rakuten.co.jp/str-garage/

Happy hunting.

Thanks Marcus. Yah, the plaintops are nice too.
Now that I'e gotten used to the neck, i find my Greco neck too skinny.
:-?
I am saving up for a GT with P90s. maybe in a few month's time...

LOL... I'm buying a Classic Custom black beauty. :>) My plan is to have a Bacchus for every guitar I currently own. It's a good plan. Not possibile but a fun idea. I am selling my 1991 Gibson 335 Studio. No F holes. Black. Sexy guitar. But I can't play Gibsons anymore. Don't want to either. Bacchus doesn't make a black 335 but that's ok.
