Flying Star mystery

I have a "Tokai Super Edition" that is a Flying Star shape, Serial #201183 (on the neck plate) and has no other model ID.

I have searched this entire registry looking for info. on this guitar but every mention or photo of a "Super Edition" is a Strat type body style.

I did find one page in the 1985 catalog which shows the guitar as an F-55 or F-65. But have not found any mention of an F-55 or 65 anywhere else in this whole registry. It's not even listed on the registration menus.

What's the deal with this guitar? Is it rare?

How can I tell if it is a F-55 or F-65? and,

Was it only made in 1985?

Ok, found a couple threads that confirm that this guitar was from the 1985 catalogue (which means it was only made in 1985, I guess) and with some additional info. from these, looks like the mystery is solved.

As far as I can tell, it is an F-65 ABR

The F60 and F70 were only available in All Sparkle Red (ASRS) or Purple (ASPR). The F60 had an Ayers Rocker I tailpiece while the F70 had an AR III. From the picture in the catalogue it also looks like the F60 had "dot" fret markers while the 70 had "lightning" markers.

My guitar is All Black (ABR) so it must be a F-55 or 65. The 55 had the ARI tail while the 65 had the ARII tail. My guitar has an AR tail but it doesn't indicate a I or II, however, the guitar does have the lightning markers which makes me assume it is the 65 and not the 55.

I love this guitar. Plays awesome and has a great crunchy rock sound.

It's good to know a bit more about it. Now I can add it to the registry!

not much info out there about them!!

Jeff, the "Volume1 Original Series" catalogue now available on the main site (~3 MB PDF file) lists some "FSD" guitars with a Star shape on page 4, and the top model is the FSD-120 Super Edition Model. Maybe that's yours?
