Just wondering what the Greco experts think about these two guitars currently on offer:

Thanks for your advice.

They are both gorgeous! Love the Olympic White Strat!

That 1000 is very nice as well but it is a 3 piece back, not a 2 as he said.

+1, it looks more like a 3 piece back than other 3 piece backs I've seen.

Yes it sure looks like 3 piece but if John says it's a 2 piece, it's a 2 piece for sure.

Do you think the price is ok or too high on both these guitars? There's an EG 1000C selling in Japan (with the full insignia on the headstock and 'Custom' on the TRC) for about $100 less but then you have to factor in Import duty/VAT costs, long-distance post, etc.

2 things:
1. I think you've answered your own question
2. A EG900 is probably a 70s Greco which is a different guitar (fi pancake body)

Well he said it is almost a 1 piece as there is a seam near the upper bout if I recall. I can see a pretty evident seam cutting right through the cutaway. Could be wood grain but it sure looks like a seam?

That's what I see too but I don't have it live in front of me.

Here's another two I was looking at:

(1)
http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170461674843&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The back of the neck seems unusual. Dark headstock then complete yellow/gold neck; no blend-in between the two. I read somewhere to be careful as some headstocks on LPs crack/break and some guys have the repair work sprayed over with a dark colour and varnished to cover the repair job. I'm not saying that is the case here but has anyone come across the sharp contrast between headstock and neck colours?

(2)
Is this a steep price for the Bacchus (below)?

Thanks for advice.

I've had the EG1000D for a few years, and studied it to death when I got it, I'm sure it's a 2-piece back, the grain does look like a join, but if you look end-on it's not. It's a fantastic player too!

The Greco Strat looks a lot nicer than it is! Nice neck, but the rest of it isn't great!

Surely everything from koiz is at a steep price? Just be grateful there isn't a video of him singing while playing this one!

I know Bacchi are great guitars, but they do a funny job with their plastic parts. The knobs on that one almost match the scratchplate, but the pickup covers don't even pretend to be the same colour. My BST-64V is much the same. Surely they could have sourced stuff that matches better?

Koiz' prices are always negotiable.
+1 for the vid without him singing :D

Update

Just checked again and it IS a three piece, I was certain it was two, so didn't really check very well. Thanks for the heads-up :D

So that line really in a seam? Cool as I know where you are coming from...I have had a few that I swore were 2 pieces for ages and one day I picked it up and was stunned that it was three. They did such a good job at matching backs hey?

I remember when I got it looking for ages and was sure it was two-piece, after your post I took another look and it was obviously three, it had actually sold before I saw this post but I hadn't shipped it yet so let the buyer know and he was happy to still go through with the sale. Apparently he actually plays them

I NEVER used to concern myself with how many bits of wood made up a guitar body before I joined this **** forum!

This is the one I purchased for (sterling) 400+100 postage from stjjjj:
A Greco EGC-600 CS LP Custom Mint Collection 1987

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300474766901&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Seemed like a good deal, in decent condition, all original parts, electics fine, etc.

Sorry folks, since the deal is done that web page has altered slightly. Just scroll down a bit to see it and read the details.
