I removed the neck from my tokai telecaster and found the numbers

4-33

Can anyone decipher their meaning?

The serial number on the neck plate is 22252

Thanks

The MIJ Fender copies have mysterious code numbers stamped in neck pocket & pup cavities (dunno about MIK's). Code in form of two numbers separated by an equals sign, eg ?3=12?. So far nobody has discovered what it means.

The number you give is slightly different, ie you say it?s a ?dash? rather than equals sign, plus I?ve never seen a number as high as 33 (never seen higher than 12 or 13 myself) ? Tokai make an AST model 33, so yours may be a model number :-? .

Ian.

Thanks Ian,

The AST 33 is a Strat isn't it?

My guitar has the T shaped tokai label and the smaller, pointy ended headstock.

Looks like an 85 or 86 based on a fender 67 or 52. It has a maple neck and the dome shaped string-tree.

I have taken pictures of this including the neck pocket. I'll load them up if I can figure out how.

It's left handed and I've owned it for about 10-11 years.

I was wondering if the four might be a year (84), and the 33 indicating that it was the 33 guitar made that year.

How many we're they making every year back then?

Thanks for your help
