I am not sure if any one has found this auction on the bay! I thought it was a misprint of the price?I had to look twice....Who would consider such a risky purchase....but a good investment

What do you lot think..At ?5.00 a pop for a vintage NOS tube.. still cheap ..as i have seen them go for over ?20.00 ....

depends on what the valves are and what condition. Depending on what they are, and in what condition, that could either be brilliant or terrible value (or somewhere in-between).

Mmmm, interesting! Could be a good buy for someone like like Derek Rocco of Watford Walves (or another specialist reseller, who are realistically the only likely buyers for a stash of this size/value).

+1,000,000 to that!! At least the seller is offering to throw in some valve testing apparatus so that the lucky buyer can then spend their lifetime testing the stock in order to ascertain whether they are worth a damn...

I have been buying & selling tubes for some years now and there are few things to consider here:
-Tube testing is a massive time consuming job. On top of that you need to identify and sometimes match them. This guy takes the easy way. No testing, just selling, I do understand that.
-If he throws in 2 tube testers valued at 600 pounds, those will not be high grade testers and no use for getting reliable testresults. Maybe those are the only testers he has thus the reason for selling the tubes this way?
-If the tubes in the pictures are examplary than it it's not likely to include tubes of high value. He says there are a lot of ECC83 and EL34. Then I would like to see long plate Mullards in stead of the very common short plate and I don't see a single EL34 depicted. Those are the most expensive.
3 out of 4 tubes in the picture have been used.

I think it's a high price.

^ probably true.

But yeah, odds are a retailer will end up buying them (if they are ok value, which they might not be). Even if you're a valve fan, you're hardly likely to need 4000 valves...
