Would I rather pay the same amount for a 2 pc. body LP, or for a 1 pc. body LP?
Same could be said for a Braz board versus a non Braz board.

I thought that a recent thread had established that none of us can reliably pick out what is Brazilian rosewood by looks alone?

that's pretty much what I recall so, your point ....................

some instruments have Braz according to their spec so, hopefully that is what the customer is getting for a 100% upcharge

Cool guitar, but is there anything else that denotes it as being an 1800 other than "1800" written in marker in the pickup cavity? That would make me a little nervous, from a buying standpoint...

the step up from 1200 to 1800 = going from a veneer top on the 1200 to a solid top on the 1800

that's what 60,000 yen MSRP extra :-? got you in 1980, a solid top ............ crazy .........

Which was roughly $300. USD at the time.

Let's see.. What did I spend my $300 on in 1980? Or the roughly $900 USD original cost of the 1800?

the question begs, did you actually have $5K on hand (discretionary cash) that you were seriously considering parting with for the '60 Standard?

Yep had the money in the form of a credit card... just thought it was too much money at the time.......

In 1995 I offered $30,000 CASH for a 1959 Les Paul Standard with 5 of the 6 strings still on. Seems like the buyer busted one string got frustrated and put the guitar under the bed. After his death it went up for sell. $35,000 was the number they needed at the time..... another loss....

$5K for a '58 -'60 LP in the early '80s was a bit steep AFA my memory from those days but too bad you passed on that

9 0663 was (celebrity) owned by Joe Perry, Eric Johnson, Slash, and I suppose it's back in the hands of Joe Perry.
It is documented on pages 58 & 59 in 'the' book  and is also pictured again, on page 175

It's the 'burst that Slash plays in the 'November Rain' video

It was being offered at the GSWGS in Dallas, circa 1986, for ~$5K, and no one wanted it

Eric used this '59 'burst for one track that actually made it onto one of his albums.
Eric nick named this 'burst 'Hard Times'.

****, I miss Texas ..................
