Is it possible to determine type, origin and year ot my Tokai Love Rock with serial number 081175 ?

When I look at

http://www.tokairegistry.com/tokai-i...on-models.html

it seems it has to be a Tokai Love Rock from 2008, made in Japan, though the strange thing is the serial number contains only 6-digits. Except from this, there is a sticker on the back of the neck "Made in China"

I think it is a LS-50 or LS-48, or LS-58 but it could be anything else also

From the side aboce, it seems that the LS-50 series was dropped in 2000" ?

Can anyone help ?

You can't date Chinese guitars with this site; the serials it refers to are for the Japanese ones. It's most likely a Chinese instrument (and probably from 2008, but I don't know for sure).

As always - asking for identification help is useless without pics!

Sorry .... I am new here in this forum. I don't know how to attach images except than with an url ('Img' button). Then I could show the guitar.

That's exactly how that works. Click the Img button in the Reply box, automatically opens the code. Paste the address for the pic in there...
Done.

Or you could paste the address in the reply box, type
behind the address. Makkelijk!

OK. I will try to add some pictures tonight if I can find a place on the web to upload these images....

ALS50QZ ? How do you recognize that ? Where can I find that info on the internet ?

And what about the serial number ? I guess it is 2008 ? But is that information also available ?

Don't know about the serial and date, but the three truss-rod cover screws say it's Chinese. The quilted veneer top then gives the Q. I'm sure they'll enlighten you about the rest.

Bought in Britain? It has the little headstock dimple - different to the Gibson style "open-book" headstock that most Tokais have.

Don't worry about the grumpiness. People wanting guitars identified are very common here. People start to get particular about what they need to help someone new after a while. Search around the site. You'll find quite a lot of info about Chinese Tokais - although the Tokai fans are mad for the Japanese made ones.

Check it out: http://www1.odn.ne.jp/tokaigakki/products/traditional/als50qz.html

Then take a browse around and see what Tokai has going on at the moment. Great guitars. You've entered a fun world :)

Thanks for info. I think you are right it is :

The only difference is the colour... It is more cherry sunburst in fact.

No I bought the guitar in my own country, the Netherlands...

When I look at the catalogue of 2008 (suppose my guitar is from 2008), I suppose it is indeed the ALS 50Q. Even the available colour (CS in my case) is available according the catalague and the missing pickguard also. (what would be the reason for not putting a pickguard on this model ???).

Only 'issue' left is the little headstock dimple which is a little different from the normal Gibson like headstocks ?????

Yeah the headstock dimple is because most dutch shops get their stock the the UK importer.

If I'm correct those imported into Germany donot have the dimple but the nornal headstock, dutch shops should import from Germany I supose

The headstock dimple is an enforced copyright compliance for the UK and USA.
Here in Australia our Tokai don't have the dimple because we're classed as part of Asia.
