Hi I have a tokai Silver Star ss-30. I 'd like to know what are the main differences between the ss-30and the higher models like the ss-80?

Hmm,,well the differences are....
body wood, laquer, pickups, bridge, machine heads, frets, markers, neck, electronics, availability.

Interesting guitar you have though... i think the model # is incorrect, as far as i am aware Tokai never made an SS-30, it must be an SS-38

Hi 20C Boy

The pics look like they are of a 1983 SS-38BB.

Do you own this guitar or are you buying it?
I would very like to get some stat info about it mainly
Neck Stamp
Cavity stamp and placement
Pickup bobbin colour
pickup wire colour
it is these things that will help nail the exact model even better.
One thing is for sure - it is not an SS-80

hi Pete :)
I actually own the guitar. The number is really a 30 and not a 38. My investigations led me to 1983 too. I will get my screwdriver to tell you more soon. thanks a lot
