Not a kit, it's based on a ceriatone 18W TMB, but with a few tweaks to use 6V6 valves instead of EL84's, I sourced all the parts in the UK, a lot of them from www.valvepower.co.uk, his transformers are excellent and very cheap! I have also installed VVR (Variable Voltage Regulation) which is like powerscaling so you can run the amp at bedroom levels and still retain the tone. Without the VVR and 18W is much too loud to use at home :D

Great :D Lucky of you that you know how to build a low wattage amp. Did you record anything?

hehe, small world. I've got the valvepower cage amp, i got it about a month ago. Didn't build it myself, though, i figured it was worth letting them build it for ?50 since I'd just never get round to it  It's very nice indeed, and as you said about their transformers, the price is crazy good :D the VVR is extremely useful, too, I'd have had to run out and buy an attenuator without it.

Nice one Dave, the cage amps are fantastic value, superb hand-wired quality amps for less money than most rubbish in the shops!

Heres some clips of mine in a band context, but guitar isn't really the dominant instrument, check www.valvepower.co.uk for some excellent 'rock' clips of the cage amp which is basically the same.

yeah, definitely :D people probably think i'm a total gear snob when i turn my nose up at a lot of the stuff available in the shops, but I don't see why you wouldn't want as good gear as you can get for your money... :-? you don't necessarily have to spend a ton of money to get nice kit, but you do have to spend wisely...

it was either the cage amp or one of the EVA low wattage amps, but then they released the mark III version of the cage amp which had the VVR already installed, and that swung the deal for me. Plus it went up ?20 about 3 days after I bought mine, which was nice.

those EVAs look really nice too, though, they did a nice job on your headshell, and you can get them in nice colours...

Lucky me! I found one not too far away a guy is looking to sell to pay bills.

It's a mojo kit that was built by the guy from guttermouth electronics
