Hello recently i got my hands on Tokai TMD-1.
Its a very nice OD pedal with Drive,Level,Freq and a bright knob.
It really sounds similar to tubescreamer pedals.
I would like to ask if anyone actually knows if it is a "modded" TS808 with plus bright knob or if it it is just a similar sounding pedal.
(i cant confirm that myself since i am not really familiar with diy stuff or schematics)

I guess Tokai pedals are most like old Boss ones rather than Ibanez/Maxon line because construction. |

isn't the SD1 basically a tubescreamer, though, except for the asymmetrical clipping (and probably a few other minor component changes)? |

Will need schematics for the Tokai TMD-1 to determine if it's similar to a Tube screamer.
The SD-1 is a derivative of TS. Anyone interested can read
http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/TStech/tsxtech.htm
this explains the working of the TS without going into too much details. ANy pedal using a similar scheme is a derivative of the TS
Unless, the TS is a derivative of a really vintage mysterious pedal you own |
